Description of the Motion Control system hardware
As indicated in the figure above, the display (8) provides information on the unit.
Press S1 (1) to view the firmware code, the serial protocol and the baud rate of the two communication ports “PROG” (10) and “COM” (11), the unit identification number, the IP address (in case of a PPC with an Ethernet port (13)) and the current state message.
The connectors of the fibre optics “TX” (5) and “RX” (6) are the starting and end points of the Sercos ring connecting the PPC with the drives. The terminal strip (13) is used for the 24VDC power supply. The 64 MB Flash Eprom, containing the Firmware, the software and the system parameters, is installed in the slot (2).Optional cards can be installed in the 3 slots (9). More specifically, we use the first slot from the left for the Link Ring card and the second for the field bus
card (normally Profibus DP).
